JPEG, TIFF, PNG, WebP, HEIF — metadata varies by format
What metadata can be read?
- EXIF — camera make/model, lens, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length, flash, white balance, colour space, orientation, resolution, and timestamps.
- GPS — latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, and direction encoded by phones and GPS-equipped cameras.
- IPTC — title, caption, keywords, author, copyright, city, country — used by professional photographers and stock agencies.
- JFIF — JPEG File Interchange Format header with DPI/density information.
Supported formats
JPEG and TIFF files contain the most metadata. WebP, HEIF, and PNG may carry partial EXIF. GIF and BMP carry none. The tool reports what is actually present in each file.
Privacy note
Photos taken with smartphones often contain precise GPS coordinates. This tool keeps all processing on your device. Use the Export JSON feature to audit metadata before sharing images publicly.
